USA, 23ANDME CONFERMA CHE GLI HACKER HANNO RUBATO I DATI DI ANCESTRY DI 6,9 MILIONI DI UTENTI
La società di test genetici 23andMe ha annunciato lo scorso venerdì che degli hacker hanno avuto accesso ai dati personali dello 0,1% dei clienti, ovvero circa 14.000 persone e che sono stati in grado di accedere ad “un numero significativo di file contenenti informazioni sul profilo degli antenati di altri utenti”. In un’e-mail la portavoce di 23andMe, Katie Watson, ha confermato che gli hacker hanno avuto accesso ai dati personali di circa 5,5 milioni di persone che hanno optato per la funzione DNA Relatives rubando dati che includevano il nome della persona, l’anno di nascita, il grado du parentela, la percentuale di DNA condivisa con i parenti, i rapporti di ascendenza e la posizione geografica dichiarata.

Secondo un recente rapporto di Ofcom in Gran Bretagna una grossa fetta della popolazione – quasi 14 milioni di persone – accede ad immagini pornografiche. Ma la facilità di accesso alla pornografia online ha sollevato la preoccupazione che i bambini visualizzino siti web espliciti. Secondo un’indagine del Children’s Commissioner, infatti un bambino su dieci li vede entro i nove anni. Ma Pornhub ha dichiarato che le norme che richiedono la raccolta di “informazioni personali altamente sensibili” potrebbero mettere a rischio la sicurezza degli utenti.

Barry Young, 56 anni e stato arrestato dopo che il Ministero della Salute ha presentato una denuncia alla polizia in seguito alla presunta “divulgazione non autorizzata e all’uso improprio di dati da parte di un membro del suo staff”. Pare che i dati sono stati pubblicati, anche se parzialmente anonimizzati, su un sito estero. E’ stata avviata una indagine immediata considerando l’importanza che ha la tutela non solo dei dati personali ma soprattutto di quelli sanitari.

USA, 23ANDMe CONFIRMS THAT HACKERS HAVE STOLEN THE ANCESTRY DATA OF 6.9 MILLION USERS
The genetic testing company 23andMe announced last Friday that hackers had accessed the personal data of 0.1 per cent of its customers, or about 14,000 people, and that they were able to access ‘a significant number of files containing profile information on other users’ ancestors’. In an e-mail, 23andMe spokeswoman Katie Watson confirmed that hackers accessed the personal data of about 5.5 million people who opted for the DNA Relatives function by stealing data that included the person’s name, year of birth, degree of relationship, percentage of DNA shared with relatives, ancestry relationships, and declared geographical location.

UK, PORNHUB USERS COULD HAVE THEIR FACE SCANNED TO SHOW THEIR AGE
According to a recent report by Ofcom in the UK, a large proportion of the population – almost 14 million people – access pornographic images. But the ease of access to pornography online has raised concerns about children viewing explicit websites. In fact, according to a survey by the Children’s Commissioner, one in ten children see them by the age of nine. But Pornhub stated that rules requiring the collection of ‘highly sensitive personal information’ could put users’ safety at risk.

NEW ZEALAND, A MAN ACCUSED OF ILLECITED ACCESS TO VACCINATION DATA WILL BE RELEASED
Barry Young, 56, was arrested after the Ministry of Health filed a police complaint following the alleged ‘unauthorised disclosure and misuse of data by a member of his staff’. Apparently, the data were published, albeit partially anonymised, on a foreign website. An immediate investigation was launched considering the importance of protecting not only personal data but especially health data.
