NEW JERSEY, APPROVATO IL SENATE BILL 322 IN MATERIA DI PRIVACY
E’ stato comunicato che la Commissione Commercio del Senato del New Jersey ha approvato il disegno di legge n. 332, che interessa la raccolta e la divulgazione di informazioni personali online da parte degli operatori di siti web e servizi online. Il disegno di legge, prevede che gli operatori debbano avvisare gli utenti della raccolta di informazioni personali e di come queste informazioni verranno eventualmente condivise con terze parti. In aggiunta nel caso in cui l’operatore dovesse divulgare le informazioni personali di un utente a terzi, dovrebbe fornire gratuitamente all’utente stesso l’indirizzo del terzo, le informazioni personali divulgate e i dettagli di contatto del terzo. L’operatore avrebbe 60 giorni per rispondere alla richiesta dell’utente per fornire tutte le informazioni sulle divulgazioni effettuate nei 12 mesi precedenti. Il disegno di legge ha come obiettivo quello di garantire la trasparenza e la protezione della privacy degli utenti on line.

AUSTRALIA, L’OFFICE OF THE AUSTRALIAN INFORMATION COMMISSIONER HA AVVIATO UN’INDAGINE SULLA RACCOLTA DI DATI PERSONALI DA PARTE DI TIKTOK
In Australia l’Ufficio del Commissario per l’informazione ha aperto una indagine su TikTok per capire se la piattaforma di social media abbia violato la privacy degli utenti australiani attraverso l’uso di pixel di marketing. I pixel hanno lo scopo di tracciare le abitudini online degli utenti, come i siti web visitati, gli acquisti effettuati e le informazioni personali fornite,. Secondo il senatore James Paterson la piattaforma raccoglie informazioni anche su utenti che non utilizzano TikTok e questo è particolarmente preoccupante considerando i legami di TikTok con il partito comunista cinese. TikTok ha ovviamente respinto al mittente le accuse, sottolineando che l’uso dei pixel di marketing è conforme alle leggi sulla privacy. SVIZZERA, UN RAPPORTO DEL WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM RIVELA LE MINACCE DELL’AI
S econdo il rapporto pubblicato dal World Economic Forum le informazioni false e fuorvianti amplificate dall’intelligenza artificiale rappresentano un grave rischio per l’economia globale. Il rapporto ha anche sottolineato le minacce ambientali a lungo termine che possono derivare dall’utilizzo delle tecnologie basate sulla AI. La disinformazione alimentata dall’IA è considerata il rischio più grave degli prossimi due anni, si teme che l’aumento dei chatbot di IA generativa possa permettere di manipolare le persone senza necessità di competenze specifiche. L’IA sarà un argomento importante durante il prossimo incontro di Davos, che vedrà la partecipazione di leader dell’industria tecnologica come il CEO di OpenAI, il CEO di Microsoft e il capo scienziato dell’IA di Meta.

NEW JERSEY, SENATE BILL 322 ON PRIVACY APPROVED
It has been announced that the New Jersey Senate Commerce Committee has approved Senate Bill 332, which affects the collection and disclosure of personal information online by operators of websites and online services. Under the bill, operators must notify users of the collection of personal information and how this information will eventually be shared with third parties. In addition, should the operator disclose a user’s personal information to a third party, it would have to provide the user with the third party’s address, the personal information disclosed and the third party’s contact details free of charge. The operator would have 60 days to respond to the user’s request to provide all information on disclosures made in the previous 12 months. AUSTRALIA, THE OFFICE OF THE AUSTRALIAN INFORMATION COMMISSIONER HAS LAUNCHED AN INVESTIGATION INTO TIKTOK’S COLLECTION OF PERSONAL DATA
In Australia, the Office of the Information Commissioner has opened an investigation into TikTok to find out whether the social media platform violated the privacy of Australian users through the use of marketing pixels. The pixels are intended to track users’ online habits, such as websites visited, purchases made and personal information provided,. According to Senator James Paterson, the platform also collects information on users who do not use TikTok and this is particularly worrying considering TikTok’s links to the Chinese Communist Party. TikTok has, of course, rejected the accusations, emphasising that the use of marketing pixels complies with privacy laws. The Attorney General expects full cooperation from TikTok throughout the investigation.
SWITZERLAND, A WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM REPORT REVEALS THREATS FROM AI
According to a report published by the World Economic Forum, false and misleading information amplified by artificial intelligence poses a serious risk to the global economy. The report also highlighted the long-term environmental threats that can arise from the use of AI-based technologies. Misinformation fuelled by AI is seen as the most serious risk in the next two years, it is feared that the rise of generative AI chatbots may allow people to be manipulated without the need for specific skills. AI will be an important topic during the upcoming Davos meeting, which will feature technology industry leaders such as the CEO of OpenAI, the CEO of Microsoft, and Meta’s chief AI scientist.
