USA, SECONDO LA DUKE UNIVERSITY SI POSSONO COMPERARE ON LINE I DATI DEL PERSONALE MILITARE
La Duke University grazie ad un recente studio ha individuato più di 500 siti web di data broker che vendono le informazioni personali dei membri del personale militare degli Stati Uniti. I ricercatori sono riusciti ad acquistare, per una spesa di poco più di 10.000 dollari, dati sensibili, inclusi nomi, numeri di telefono, indirizzi e dettagli come nomi dei figli, stato civile, patrimonio e valutazione del credito, accumulando circa 50.000 di documenti. Secondo il Senatore Ron Wyden, lo studio testimonia quanto “l’industria dei broker di dati è fuori controllo e rappresenta una seria minaccia per la sicurezza nazionale degli Stati Uniti”.

I data breach in campo sanitario sono purtroppo sempre più numerosi. L’ultimo in ordine di tempo ha riguardato più di 1.2 milione di pazienti del sistema ospedalieri del Cook County Health della contea di Cook. Il 9 ottobre scorso, l’azienda sanitaria ha fornito alla contea un elenco dei pazienti interessati dal data breach notificando che le informazioni esposte potrebbero aver incluso nomi, date di nascita, indirizzi, numeri di cartelle cliniche, numeri di incontri con i medici, informazioni sanitarie e date e orari delle prestazioni. I pazienti che hanno visto violare la propria privacy saranno supportarti gratuitamente nella ricerca di attività sospette legate all’utilizzo improprio dei loro dati personali.
UK, ICO SI SCUSA CON L’EX CAPO DI NATWEST PER IL CASO FARAGE
Alison Rose capo di NatWest, dimessosi lo scorso luglio, ha ricevuto le scuse formali da parte dell’’ICO che ha sottolienato che è stato “scorretto” insinuare che abbia violato le leggi sulla protezione dei dati discutendo dei rapporti bancari di Nigel Farage con un giornalista della BBC. Nel testo dell’ICO si legge che l’indagine, che ha fatto seguito a una denuncia presentata da Farage quest’estate, era rivolta esclusivamente al Gruppo NatWest e non alla Rose. I diretti interessanti non hanno ancora rilasciato commenti ufficiali.

Duke University has identified more than 500 data broker websites selling the personal information of US military personnel in a recent study. Researchers were able to purchase, for a fee of just over $10,000, sensitive data, including names, phone numbers, addresses, and details such as children’s names, marital status, assets, and credit rating, amassing some 50,000 documents. According to Senator Ron Wyden, the study testifies how ‘the data broker industry is out of control and poses a serious threat to the national security of the United States’.
USA, DATA OF 1.2 ML PATIENTS OF COOL COUNTY HEALTH EXFILTRATED
Data breaches in healthcare are unfortunately becoming more and more numerous. The latest one affected more than 1,2 million patients of the Cook County Health hospital system. On 9 October, the healthcare company involved provided the county with a list of patients affected by the data breach, notifying them that the information exposed may have included names, dates of birth, addresses, medical record numbers, doctor’s appointment numbers, health information, and dates and times of services. Patients who have had their privacy violated will receive free support in investigating suspicious activities related to the misuse of their personal data.
UK, ICO APOLOGISES TO FORMER NATWEST LEADER OVER FARAGE CASE
Alison Rose head of NatWest, who resigned last July, has received a formal apology from the ICO, which emphasised that it was ‘improper’ to imply that she violated data protection laws by discussing Nigel Farage’s banking dealings with a BBC journalist. The ICO’s text states that the investigation, which followed a complaint lodged by Farage this summer, was aimed solely at the NatWest Group and not at Rose. Those directly involved have not yet made any official comments.
