AUSTRALIA, NUOVE NOMINE PER GLI ISTITUTI DELLA PRIVACY E DELLA INFORMAZIONI
In Australia per la prima volta dal 2015, l’OAIC – Commissario australiano per l’informazione – avrà un commissario FOI, un commissario per la privacy e un commissario per l’informazione autonomi, come era stato previsto dal Parlamento. Carly Kind è stata nominata Commissario per la privacy, ripristinando la posizione autonoma abolita dalla coalizione precedente e avrà nel suo ruolo anche le competenze relative alla governance dell’IA e leggi e politiche sulla tecnologia.

UK, DATA BREACH, GENERAL ELECTRIC INDAGA SU UN FURTO DEI DATI DAGLI HACKER DI INTELBROKER
Gli hacker Intelbroker hanno violato il sistema della società General Electric e hanno cercato di vendere l’accesso all’area “ sviluppo e software” su un forum di hacking. Gli hacker hanno sostenuto di essere in possesso di una quantità significativa di informazioni militari, file, dati SQL e documenti relativi alla DARPA e come prova della violazione, sul forum sono stati condivisi degli screenshot, tra cui un database di GE Aviation che sembra contenere informazioni sensibili relative a progetti militari. La società ha prontamente avviato una indagine sull’accaduto.

IRLANDA, IL GOVERNO E’ PRONTO AD ACCELERARE ED ESPANDERE LA PORTATA DELLE NUOVE LEGGI SULLA TECNOLOGIA DI RICONOSCIMENTO FACCIALE
Il Ministro della Giustizia ha dichiarato che accelererà i tempi per poter utilizzare le tecnologie di riconoscimento facciale da utilizzare in caso di disordini e violenze e che la bozza di legge in questione sarà portata all’attenzione del Governo in poche settimane. A questa decisione si è arrivati dopo i disordini avvenuti Dublino e grazie a questa decisione gli agenti potranno visionare migliaia di ore di telecamere a circuito chiuso utilizzando le tecnologie bassate sull’intelligenza artificiale.

AUSTRALIA, NEW APPOINTMENTS FOR PRIVACY AND INFORMATION INSTITUTIONS
In Australia, for the first time since 2015, the OAIC – Australia’s Information Commissioner – will have an FOI Commissioner, a Privacy Commissioner and a stand-alone Information Commissioner, as had been envisaged by Parliament. Carly Kind has been appointed as Privacy Commissioner, restoring the autonomous position abolished by the previous coalition, and will also have powers relating to AI governance and technology laws and policies in her role.

UK, DATA BREACH, GENERAL ELECTRIC INVESTIGATES DATA THEFT BY INTELBROKER HACKERS
Intelbroker hackers breached the General Electric company’s system and tried to sell access to the ‘development and software’ area on a hacking forum. The hackers claimed to be in possession of a significant amount of military information, files, SQL data, and documents related to DARPA, and as proof of the breach, screenshots were shared on the forum, including a GE Aviation database that appears to contain sensitive information related to military projects. The company promptly launched an investigation into the incident.

IRELAND, GOVERNMENT READY TO ACCELERATE AND EXPAND THE SCOPE OF NEW FACE RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY LAWS
The Minister of Justice has stated that he will accelerate the timetable for facial recognition technology to be used in cases of riots and violence, and that the draft law in question will be brought to the attention of the government within a few weeks. This decision was arrived at after the Dublin riots and thanks to this decision, officers will be able to view thousands of hours of CCTV footage using artificial intelligence technology.
