UE, PUBBLICATO IL TESTO FINALE DELL’AI ACT
Il tanto atteso testo finale dell’AI Act che consta di 892 pagine è stato pubblicato in esclusiva da Luca Bertuzzi giornalista di Euractiv. Nel testo si trovano le bozze concordate nell’accordo politico raggiunto nel Trilogo di dicembre scorso. Molti degli aspetti chiave sono demandati però agli incontri tecnici in corso per ufficializzare l’accordo. Il documento che è stato condiviso con i Paesi dell’UE, prima della discussione di mercoledì prossimo, sarà adottato formalmente il 2 febbraio prossimo dai capi delegazione degli Stati membri. Secondo Bertuzzi i tempi sono piuttosto stretti e i delegati nazionali non avranno abbastanza tempo per analizzare l’intero testo, ma dovranno concentrarsi sugli articoli chiave.
GUYANA, LA TECNOLOGIA DI RICONOSCIMENTO FACCIALE AVRA’ TUTELE LEGALI
Il governo della Guyana ha annunciato l’intenzione di sviluppare un progetto di riconoscimento biometrico che utilizzerà un software di riconoscimento facciale che verrà utilizzato per rintracciare le persone con precedenti penali e monitorarne la posizione in tempo reale. Il Vicepresidente Bharrat Jagdeo e il Ministro Robeson Benn hanno poi confermato l’intenzione del governo di implementare questa tecnologia, sottolineando però la necessità di norme legislative per garantirne una supervisione adeguata e la protezione dei diritti dei cittadini. L’obiettivo è contrastare la criminalità organizzata transnazionale e preservare la sovranità del paese, mantenendo un equilibrio con le garanzie giuridiche.

La società madre di Vans, Supreme e The North Face, VF Corp, ha annunciato che un recente attacco informatico ha compromesso i dati personali di circa 35,5 milioni di clienti. L’azienda ha avviato immediatamente una indagine interna e non ha fornito informazioni dettagliate sulla natura esatta delle informazioni rubate. Al momento non ci sono prove che suggeriscano il furto delle password dei clienti. L’azienda ha provveduto a rassicurare che non conserva informazioni sensibili come numeri di previdenza sociale, dettagli di conti bancari o informazioni sulle carte di pagamento nei suoi sistemi informatici

EU, FINAL TEXT OF THE AI ACT PUBLISHED
The long-awaited final text of the 892-page AI Act has been published exclusively by Euractiv journalist Luca Bertuzzi. In the text are the drafts agreed upon in the political agreement reached in the Trilogue last December. However, many of the key aspects are left to the technical meetings underway to formalise the agreement. The document that has been shared with the EU countries, prior to next Wednesday’s discussion, will be formally adopted on 2 February by the heads of delegations of the member states. According to Bertuzzi, the timeframe is rather tight and the national delegates will not have enough time to analyse the entire text, but will have to concentrate on the key articles.
GUYANA, FACIAL RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY WILL HAVE LEGAL PROTECTIONS
The Guyana government has announced plans to develop a biometric recognition project that will use facial recognition software to track persons with criminal records and monitor their whereabouts in real time. Vice-President Bharrat Jagdeo and Minister Robeson Benn then confirmed the government’s intention to implement this technology, but emphasised the need for legislation to ensure proper supervision and protection of citizens’ rights. The aim is to counter transnational organised crime and preserve the country’s sovereignty, while maintaining a balance with legal guarantees.
VANS COMPANY CONFIRMS DATA BREACH. THIRTY-FIVE MILLION PEOPLE AFFECTED
The parent company of Vans, Supreme and The North Face, VF Corp, announced that a recent cyber attack compromised the personal data of approximately 35.5 million customers. The company immediately launched an internal investigation and did not provide details on the exact nature of the stolen information. There is currently no evidence to suggest that customer passwords were stolen. The company reassured that it does not store sensitive information such as social security numbers, bank account details, or payment card information in its computer systems.
