SPAGNA, L’AEPD BLOCCA WORLDCOIN
L’AEPD – Agenzia spagnola per la protezione dei dati – ha emesso una misura cautelare nei confronti di Tools for Humanity Corporation, ordinando la cessazione della raccolta e del trattamento dei dati personali nel contesto del progetto Worldcoin che prevede la raccolta di dati biometrici.. Questa decisione è stata presa a causa di una serie reclami riguardanti l’insufficiente informazione, la raccolta di dati di minori e l’impossibilità di revocare il consenso. Il divieto temporaneo di attività in Spagna avrà una durata massima di tre mesi, ed è basato su circostanze eccezionali che richiedono misure immediate per prevenire il possibile trasferimento dei dati a terzi e salvaguardare il diritto fondamentale alla protezione dei dati personali. L’AEPD afferma che l’adozione di queste misure è atta ad evitare danni irreparabili e proteggere i diritti delle persone secondo il Regolamento generale sulla protezione dei dati.
USA, IL GOVERNO EMETTE LE PRIME SANZIONI CONTRO LO SPYWARE COMMERCIALE
Negli USA il Dipartimento del Tesoro ha imposto la prima serie di sanzioni contro un’azienda di spyware chiamata Intellexa. Secondo il Dipartimento la tecnologia utilizzata da Intellexa, chiamata Predator, è stata utilizzata per colpire funzionari governativi statunitensi, giornalisti ed esperti di politica. Intellexa ha permesso la diffusione di spyware commerciali e tecnologie di sorveglianza in tutto il mondo. Lo spyware Predator può essere utilizzato per attaccare dispositivi iOS e Android, ottenendo un accesso non autorizzato a informazioni sensibili. Le sanzioni sono state imposte a due persone e cinque entità coinvolte nello sviluppo di Predator, tra cui il fondatore di Intellexa, Tal Dilian, ex ufficiale dei servizi segreti israeliani, e Sara Hamou, che ha fornito servizi manageriali all’azienda.

USA, EX INGEGNERE DI GOOGLE ACCUSATO DI RUBARE INFORMAZIONI RISERVATE MENTRE ERA IN CONTATTO CON SOCIETA’ CINESI
E’ notizia di questi giorni che negli USA un ex ingegnere software di Google è stato arrestato con l’accusa di aver rubato segreti commerciali relativi all’intelligenza artificiale mentre lavorava anche con società cinesi. Linwei Ding è stato accusato di furto di segreti commerciali a livello federale il che prevede pene fino a 10 anni. Il caso di Ding è stato annunciato dal procuratore generale Merrick Garland durante una conferenza stampa a San Francisco nella quale si è anche discusso dei rischi connessi all’utilizzo delle tecnologie baste sulla intelligenza artificiale. Il direttore dell’FBI, Christopher Wray, ha concluso ricordando che il furto di segreti commerciali può avere conseguenze economiche e di sicurezza nazionale devastanti.

The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) has issued a precautionary measure against Tools for Humanity Corporation, ordering the cessation of the collection and processing of personal data in the context of the Worldcoin project involving the collection of biometric data. This decision was taken due to a number of complaints regarding insufficient information, the collection of data from minors and the impossibility of revoking consent. The temporary ban on activities in Spain will last for a maximum of three months, and is based on exceptional circumstances that require immediate measures to prevent the possible transfer of data to third parties and to safeguard the fundamental right to the protection of personal data. AEPD affirms that the adoption of these measures is aimed at avoiding irreparable damage and protecting the rights of individuals under the General Data Protection Regulation.
USA, GOVERNMENT ISSUES FIRST SANCTIONS AGAINST COMMERCIAL SPYWARE
In the US, the Treasury Department has imposed the first set of sanctions against a spyware company called Intellexa. According to the Department, the technology used by Intellexa, called Predator, was used to target US government officials, journalists, and political experts. Intellexa has enabled the spread of commercial spyware and surveillance technology around the world. Predator spyware can be used to attack iOS and Android devices, gaining unauthorised access to sensitive information. Sanctions were imposed on two individuals and five entities involved in the development of Predator, including Intellexa founder Tal Dilian, a former Israeli intelligence officer, and Sara Hamou, who provided management services to the company.

USA, FORMER GOOGLE ENGINEER ACCUSED OF STEALING CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION WHILE IN CONTACT WITH CHINESE COMPANIES
A former Google software engineer has been arrested on charges of stealing trade secrets related to artificial intelligence while also working with Chinese companies. Linwei Ding was charged with theft of trade secrets at the federal level, which carries penalties of up to 10 years. Ding’s case was announced by Attorney General Merrick Garland during a press conference in San Francisco at which the risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence technologies were also discussed. FBI Director Christopher Wray concluded by pointing out that the theft of trade secrets can have devastating economic and national security consequences.
